An experience in the first grade turned me into a public speaker and performer. The third grader who was to read the narration of the school Christmas pageant got laryngitis! The frantic teacher looked out over a sea of children and hollered, “Can anyone read this script aloud?” I raised my little hand. She put me on a chair so I could be seen, and I’ve been the narrator of the school Christmas pageant ever since!
Originally, this gift manifested as a desire to become an actress, but events conspired to make me realize that the role I most wanted to play was myself. It took a long time before I knew enough about who I was to do just that. No matter, I trained as an actress and had a lot of stage experience. |

That led naturally to teaching of a spiritual nature, and then preaching in churches, teaching workshops, even teaching ministers how to give sermons whilst I was in seminary. After I stopped working in churches, I was a motivational speaker in corporate and association settings.
