Seeds was inspired by the prodigious work of metaphysician Emmet Fox. I wanted to send a weekly inspirational gift that was a quickie — to open a door to deeper spiritual thought, word, and deed.

After 25 years of writing Seeds, I posted the last weekly Seed (below) — and I am now at work creating a daybook (or two) of the more an 1300 Seeds messages.

The Final Weekly Seed

Seeds XXV, 52 Just Be

Guillaume Apollinaire (26 August 1880 – 9 November 1918) was a French poet, playwright, short story writer, novelist, and art critic of Polish descent. He wrote:

Now and then it’s good to pause
in our pursuit of happiness and
just be happy.

Pharrell Williams’ song “Happy” is playing in my mind, but the song that has really stuck with me about happiness is from Cyndi Lauper’s Tony Award-winning Kinky Boots. It’s the finale, and the second half of its title is “Just Be.”

The lyric goes: Just be who you wanna be / Never let ’em tell you who you oughta be / Just be with dignity / Celebrate yourself triumphantly.

The first half of the title of the final is: Raise You Up.

Here’s the lyric: If you hit the dust / Let me raise you up. / When your bubble busts, / Let me raise you up / If your glitter rusts / Let me raise you up. (and up) / Raise you up / Raise you up / Raise you up.

That has been the method and the madness and, I hope, the magic of Seeds for twenty-five years, week in and week out, to raise you up, so you can just be.

P. S. Next week, I’ll send one more email which will remind you how to continue to connect with my work. Happy New Year. Just be.
